Resolved Question: Plane/helicoptor crashed in hudson river today?
I dont understand how nobody was saved. There were helicoptors, boats, ambulances/firetrucks but what were they doing? Where there divers? Or some sort of squad that actually saves people. I mean this is the 2nd time this year that a plane landed in the river, couldn’t they have been more prepared?
Lincoln, although the ship sank, my concern is why nobody was saved.

Love nuts, the plane did not explode in mid air.

Quick, the small plane had no air traffic control. It pretty much was on its own.

What I think is the government needs to reform laws on air traffic and create some sort of water squad that reacts to quick emergencies like that. So next time, we can prevent it.

Tropical Storm Claudette bears down on Florida

Tropical Storm Claudette was gaining strength Sunday as it churned toward the Florida Panhandle, the National Hurricane Center said.

At 2 p.m. ET, Claudette’s winds had picked up to near 50 mph, based on observations by an Air Force reconnaissance plane. The center of the storm was about 40 miles south of Apalachicola, Florida, and about 160 miles from Pensacola, the center said. It was moving at about 14 mph, putting it on course to hit land by Sunday evening.

A tropical storm warning was in effect from the Alabama-Florida border east to the Suwannee River. A tropical storm warning means that weather conditions will deteriorate in the next 24 hours.

The storm could bring 3 to 5 inches of rain, with isolated amounts up to 10 inches, and storm surges across portions of North Florida.

Fannie Mae was a semi-independent company that carried out its last act as such several weeks ago. This year Fannie Mae has carried out 22 updates.

There are several parts to the new guidelines. Part one involves number of properties owned by one person. Formerly, one person could own 10 properties. However, now, if a person applies for a mortgage loan, Fannie Mae will not grant the loan for second homes or investment properties if the applicant already has loans on more than 4 properties.

This limit can be avoided if the properties have the loans in the name of a corporation, and the property owner is the single owner of the corporation. If the properties are held in such a manner, Fannie Mae won’t count them as part of limited properties.

So, it will be important for investors to consider restructuring their real estate holdings in to the corporate framework and negate the 4 property limit. Even though such action is sometimes taken for tax/liability reasons, now it is good for mortgage approval reasons.

When considering the second part of the guidelines, there is no comparable “out.” New loan-to-value fees will be assessed for investment property loans.

*3.75% loan fee – Loan-to-value 80.01-90.00% *3.00% loan fee – Loan-to-value 75.01-80.00% *1.75% loan fee – Loan -to-value less than 75%

It is obligatory that these fees be paid along with any other fees incurred from other risk fees assessed by Fannie Mae. These fees currently are % at a minimum for investors.

The government hasn’t released any information about possible relaxation of mortgage guidelines since their Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac takeover. If the guidelines loosen up, this would be helpful for real estate investors. If those who want to mortgage property can’t qualify for a loan, lower rates aren’t going to be a lot of help.

In summary, if you are considering one or several investment properties, it may be more advantageous, and less expensive, to buy over the near term . Definitely consider placing the properties you do own into a corporation.

What is News Straddling? (Part II)

There are no rules or restrictions against insider trading in the world of forex trading. Anyone who possesses information that is known only to a select few can and do trade that information in the forex market.

News is information. Information is what drives the forex markets. Publicly released news is disseminated to the various newswires. Any trader who has access to these newswire services can tap into that information and react accordingly in the forex market. Timely reaction to new information can be very profitable.

However, you must know that the institutional players do get information that retail traders dont have. Institutional players have access to the order book of their clients. They know the location of their market orders. They may also know something that others dont through their contacts in the industry.

At times, this isolated news access may not translate into real market action if other players dont have that information. However, sometimes the news may give an unfair advantage to the institutional players. They may act on it before it becomes public. The efficient market hypothesis says that all publicly available information is immediately compounded into the prices. So insider information can be very valuable.

In other words, forex market is dependent on news. There will be negligible or little price movements in the market if there is no news. You can say the currencies move based on the technicals. Even then, these technicals have been established previously by news or expectation of future news.

The market reaction to the news is specific as it depends on both the type of medium that the news is transmitted on and the type of news that is being released. The market reaction to the news is staggered.

Most active traders, get their information from electronic market news services. All of these online news service relay the information to the computer monitors of the traders at almost the same time as the market event occurs with very slight delay.

However, there are many other less active traders who feel they dont need real time news so they dont subscribe to these online news services. They rely on market commentaries written by analysts and published on websites or in newspapers. These traders may take time to react to the same news that may vary from a few hours to a few days to weeks. The market reaction can thus be staggered.

Market reaction may be immediate within the first few second from those who receive real time news to a more delayed reaction from those who obtain the same news hours or even days later.

The market reacts differently to different news. Some news may produce little or no reaction at all. Forex economic calendar is usually packed with an average of twenty to thirty economic news releases per trading day.

Currency prices adjust very rapidly to the released data during times of scheduled news releases. You have to be selective to what news to focus on as the market reacts to a varying degree in relation to the type of news that is released.

Forex market reacts to what of the news rather than the why. For example, the currency prices will move as the market reacts to the better than expected unemployment figures. The market will not have time to consider why the unemployment figures are better this month as compared to the last month. Trading is all about taking advantage of what of the news. If you are more concerned about the why of the news rather than what of the news than you should stop trading and become an analyst.

There are different kinds of credit available to consumers and FICO looks at how an individual has handled these. If there are different kinds of credit that has been handled successfully then it raises the score. The number of recent credit inquiries can give a picture of a persons current financial situation. If there are a lot of inquiries into someones credit the score will go down.

This outline should go a long way towards helping the consumer understand how their credit score, and specifically their FICO score, is calculated; it should empower consumers to act wisely, increase their FICO scores, and be rewarded with better terms for their loans.
